Jam of The Day

I really like this song, I really, really do! Which says a lot considering I'm not feeling Nicki Minaj. But the video does it no justice! And what is up with Michael Jai White appearing in music videos lately? Here's Nicki Minaj's video for "Your Love".
Sidenote: that last scene should be part of acting 101 - how not to act! SMH

Inception: Insert comprehension here.

Posted by Jay at 6:15 PM 0 comments
Have you watched Inception? I have. Did you like it? I loved it! Did you understand it? I think I did...sorta... First, SPOILER ALERT!!!! You see, Inception is super cool! Yes, I don't know how else to describe it but super cool. It was so much fun yet not just a blow-anything-up kind of summer movie with no brain *side-eye Transformers 1&2*. The special effects had me wondering "how did they do that?!" That ending however had me questioning everything that I had thought I understood about the story line. The first thing that raised a red-flag to me was the fact that Cobb got to go home and see his kids after a long time away. But when we see the kids, they are still wearing the same clothes as they did the last time he saw them. To top it off, they haven't aged one bit! I thought it had been years since his wife had died. Also, that top didn't stop spinning. I remember Cobb mentioning that if it toppled over, then you knew you were back in the real world and not in dream land or some third level of subconsciousness. But do I really want to know what it all meant? Kind of. Does it take away from the whole movie? Not a bloody bit!

I highly recommend you go watch this film.

Throwback

Jam of the day is specially dedicated to my brother. He's visiting London for the first time ever and wondering what took him so long. This is for the bad bwoi in a London courtesy of Kano and Craig David. Enjoy!

Black, Beautiful, and Bootiful

Posted by Jay at 6:09 PM 0 comments
Recently, I was watching an old episode of NCIS. There was a swimsuit contest happening on the beach. A white girl was introduced and she strutted her stuff to the cheer of all the men. Next, a black girl strutted her stuff with the same amount of cheer but something was evidently different. You see, for the white girl, you got to see her butt in her bikini. But, for the black girl, the camera wouldn't span down.

Today I received my victoria secrets coupon in the mail. It then dawned on me that none of the black girls with ample booty were pictured from behind. Why is this. Is there something wrong with having nice backside? I couldn't understand why there was different treatment for the two actresses; they weren't even billed! Is it an FCC thing? Someone help me out here.

Ne-Yo released two videos for songs off of his upcoming album; Libra Scale. Personally I don't enjoy Beautiful Monster but I do love Champagne Life. It feels like Michael Jackson could have sang it. Enjoy!

Evil Twin

Posted by Jay at 11:23 PM 0 comments
LOL, my evil twin was right. Lebron James chose Miami Heat and made the announcement on tv. I wonder if the proceeds from the program will go to Cleveland...

Lebron James; You Got a Big Egooooo

Posted by Jay at 7:24 PM 0 comments
This has been irking me for a few days so it's finally time to speak on it. Why is Lebron James is announcing what team he'll be calling home tonight on ESPN at 9pm EST through a god-awful titled special called The Decision? This must be the ego Beyonce was singing about it. Is it really that serious?! I really think My evil twin thinks that he'll not sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wouldn't that be a cruel thing to do on tv....

The best thing I've read all day is rapper Fabolous's tweets on the topic. It's just HIGHLARIOUS! Here's a sample:

  1. BP #JustOfferedLebron free gas for life if he continues to take all the attention off the oil spill
  2. The Bulls #JustOfferedLebron a Bulls jersey with the number 23! Michael heard about it & said #thatsthatbullshit
  3. RT @MarkieTheMark: @myfabolouslife The Clippers #JustOfferedLebron Delonte West's moms. <--Oh shit
  4. The Nets #JustOfferedLebron a Best of Both Worlds 3 album wit JayZ if he signs
Thanks for the laugh Fabo! For more, do follow Fabolous on twitter and follow us too!

2010 Emmy Nominations

Today morning, the 2010 Emmy nominations were announced. The show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, will air on Sunday August 29th at 8pm EST. You can view the full list here.

Thoughts on the nominations:

  • Didn't know there was a category for Outstanding Choreography. Go ahead with your bad self Derek Hough!
  • Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit from How I Met Your Mother was nominated. LOVE IT!
  • So happy that Matthew Fox finally got nominated. He definitely put in his best work during the last season of Lost. The complete collection is $150 (Amazon) and available on August 24th; you can pre-order now. Yeah, I'm saving up for that one!
  • Maybe it's time I start watching Friday Night Lights....ah, who am I kidding...can't be bothered.
  • Would have been a shame if Michael Sheen didn't get nominated for playing Tony Blair...again. But he's safe.
  • Community was ROBBED!!! It should have replaced Modern Family. I have watched the first three episode of Modern Family and I just couldn't get into it.
  • Jon Cryer is awesome in Two and a Half Men. So glad he got nominated and I hope he repeats a win like last year.
  • Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series looks real tough this year. But Martin Short stands out to me. He was brilliant in Damages. But then there's Michael Emerson as Ben Linus on Lost. I just can't decide.
  • Kristin Chenoweth, the Tony's may have forgotten you but the Emmys have you covered.
  • Please let Lost win for Outstanding Drama!
  • Yay! True Blood was nominated for Outstanding Drama!!
  • And the best revenge for Conan O'Brien; get nominated for an Emmy while Jay Leno gets zilch...SWEET!
Good luck to all the nominees!

Jam of The Day

Thank you to my girl Steph for reintroducing me to this song. She said, it speaks so truly to breaking up. I concur. Breakeven (Falling To Pieces) is the first US single off Irish band The Script's first cd; also titled The Script and released in 2008. I purchased their cd and I am not disappointed one bit. In fact, I've already purchased a ticket to see them in concert. You are advised to do the same. Now I have a new indie band to love and a lead singer whom I find oddly hot. Maybe it's the Irish in him...

As a bonus, here's another cut, The Man Who Can't Be Moved.

Lindsay Going To Jail

Posted by Jay at 6:49 PM 0 comments
I know, I know, I shouldn't revel in this but it's about time that the law caught up with these starlets. Lindsay Lohan; that cute faced child actor from The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls; now better known for falling outside clubs all over the world has been sentenced to jail. Lindsay, I wish you could get yourself together before you fall further into this hole you are in. You are throwing away opportunities that so many, especially me, could kill for. May be tough consequences will get you to see the severity of your stupid actions. Then again, 90 days may turn into 2 hours thus nothing learned.

4th of July Weekend

Posted by Jay at 1:24 PM 0 comments
The best thing about the 4th of July weeked is not the barbecues, fireworks or the long weekend, it's the tv marathons! Hey, I did say that I'm a tvholic. So, after partaking in housewarming parties and birthday parties, I spent Sunday glued to the tv alternating between 48 hours on ID and the NCIS marathon on USA network. Today, it's Cheaters on the G4 channel. I LOVE Cheaters! Kind of ironic that I'm watching this before a first date tonight but I digress. It's amazing the things people say after being confronted for cheating.

On the other spectrum of this, WE channel is having a wedding marathon. I landed on an episode of Bridezillas; Where are they now? Thank you WE for answering my question. I have always been curious to know whether some of these very disfunctional relationships lasted after the wedding. Lo and behold, most did. Further, the bridezillas always thought they were not as bad as they were portrayed. Yeah, ok, uh huh, *side-eye* Happy 4th everyone!

I think it may finally be happening. Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty is really being released. Tomorrow!!! What a wait it has been. Plus, I finally saw the video for Shutterbug. Enjoy it below.

Sidenote: why does Keri Hilson have a random cameo in the video?
