Pierce, Say It Isn't So?!

Posted by Jay at 6:45 AM 0 comments
I woke up this morning to the news that Celtics captain, Paul Pierce, is going to become a free agent at midnight. Noooooooooooooooo! Pierce has played for the Celtics his entire career and was quoted a few years ago saying he can't see himself retiring as anything but a Celtics. He will however talk first to the Celtics and see what they offer. Rumor is, according to WCVB Boston, he's looking at $33M over 4 years but at 33 years old, that's unlikely. Just don't play for your hometown (LA Lakers); you'll be such a traitor. Then again, the yearn for another championship ring may factor into his decision. I don't have a good feeling about this.

Hair Line, Where Art Thou?

Posted by Jay at 8:23 PM 0 comments
Man, am I glad I stopped wearing weaves! I saw a picture of Naomi Campbell on the daily mail today and I was super shocked. Naomi, even though you have a weave, why is your hair so nappy? Especially your kitchen! Plus, she's very rich. She can afford a lace front at least...Not a good look Naomi, not a good look. To read the story, click here

Lust, Yeah, This Is Lust

Posted by Jay at 6:46 PM 0 comments
For the past few years, I've had a hard time finding a male black celebrity to take over the teenage crush I had on Larenz Tate. Then I happened upon a little movie called Glory Road and the search was over for Mehcad Brooks. Just look at the photo below and you'll know there's no more that I need to say...
For more photos, pick the July issue of GQ. Yeah, I'm buying GQ for the first time in my LIFE!

Jam of The Day

Fantasia, who knew you would ever record a song that will not get out of my head! Bittersweet reminds me of what RnB was like back in the day. Soulful, emotional, deep. This song is and will be on constant repeat on my ipod and desktop. Congratulations to Fantasia on a fantastic tune. Look out for her new cd, Back To Me, coming out on August 24th. Enjoy!

Jam of The Day

Do you ever want to relieve the happiest times of your life? For me, it would be growing up in Japan. Man, was I happy! But since we can’t turn back time, I found the next best thing to give me that joyful child-like happiness. Skip to my louuuuuuuu!!!. Thank you Serani for this one; it’s so much fun. I’ve never seen grown men skipping in the club with such a wide smile on their face like when this song came on. Enjoy your Furahiday!

Sidenote: Furahi is Swahili for enjoy, rejoice, happy.

On a different note, I need to vent something if you don’t mind. I think there should be a training class for peeing. I can name two people who should be enrolled in the beginner course and maybe some summer classes plus remedial classes because some people never learn.

I have encountered two women who think you have to do everything by force; walk, instruct and pee. The first one closes her bathroom stall door so hard forcing my bathroom stall door to open. Then she proceeds to pee something fierce. The second I encountered today. She peed so hard I had to move my foot just incase some splashing occured. People, I know it’s the bathroom but it’s a public bathroom; have some decorum!

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Remembering Michael Joseph Jackson

Posted by Jay at 6:04 AM 3 comments
One year ago today, the most unbelievable news was delivered to the world. I honestly thought it was some kind of cruel joke that even CNN wasn't catching on to. But, alas, it was true. The King of Pop, Michael Jackson was dead. Today, June 25th, marks the one year anniversary of his death.

What does Michael represent for you? For me, he reminds of the happy times and fun I had growing up in Japan. I remember my dad buying the Smooth Criminal Laserdisc. Yeah, we were up on the latest technology! My dad, brother, sister and I would dance to all the songs and laugh at my dad's terrible dancing. It was soo wonderful. His songs fill me with such great memories and bring so much joy. I'm sure it does to so many people around the world. So please, remember to tell your loved ones how much you love them before it's too late. I haven't told my mom and siblings how much I love them lately. No better time than now. I'll leave you with my favorite Michael Jackson song Human Nature.

The Real L Word - Gangsta!

Posted by Jay at 5:54 PM 0 comments
Do you have Showtime? If so, watch The Real L Word. I'm not a fan of reality tv but I had to tune into this one since Shane is not getting her own spin off from The L Word. Boy, am I glad I tuned in! Ok, so before I get to the point; short synopsis. The Real L Word follows six lesbians, two of whom are a couple planning their wedding, living out in LA. The most intriguing character to me is Whitney. Whitney is a white dread-locked special effects artist. Whitney would make a player proud. Do not read the following if you don't want to know what happens.......

At the end of the first episode, Whitney drops of her new "girlfriend" at the airport. Then she says "Before I go home there's one more thing I have to do." I'll have you know she drives to another terminal to pick up another girl who's visiting her!!! Dayumn! This reminds me of Notorious BIG's verse off of One More Chance remix

the finest women I love with a passion
ya man's a wimp, I give that ass a good thrashing
high fashion, flying into all states
sexing me while your man masturbates
Isn't this great? Your flight leaves at eight
Her flight lands at nine, my game just rewind

Play on playa!

Sidenote: Yes, she loves straight girls too...

Work and World Cup = Sadness

Posted by Jay at 7:11 PM 0 comments
Today was my first day back to work after almost 3 months of leave. The timing surely sucks now that I've caught the world cup fever. What particularly sucked today is the severe thrashing the North Koreans received at the hands of Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of the Portugal team.

DAYUMN! 7-0??? What did North Korea do to deserve this Portugal?! DAYUMN! I'd be mindblasted if this beauty was running towards me with a ball ;-) Would have loved to see this live but, for now, I resort to highlights. Pay close attention at 2:40; too beautiful!

Sidenote: why is Tiago not man of the match and hottie of my life?!

Tomorrow will be especially hard due to the 4 big matches being played; Mexico, France, Argentina and Nigeria. It's a green and blue day but I'll have to go with a green sweater since I don't have a blue dress. Thank God for the dvr. I'll just have to ignore all news outlets until I watch the matches after work. All world cup lovers should be given 1 month paid time off every four years during world cup. Or at least allowed to work from home. This is just torture!

Throwback

Posted by Jay at 11:43 AM 0 comments

Today's throwback jam comes courtesy of The Boys. Abdulsamad brothers wrote and produced their own music. Acts such Babyface wrote songs for them such my, favorite, A Little Romance and Dial My Heart. At the height of their fame, they toured with New Kids on The Block and Crazy was used in a Pepsi commercial. These days, the brothers still write and release music as The Suns of Light. They have written for Akon and were producers on New Kids on The Block's 2008 come back album, The block. Let me know how many video spoofs you see in this one. I can name at least five.

Oh My God People, The Universe Heard 1 out 3!!!

Posted by Jay at 10:34 AM 0 comments
People, I'm telling you, The universe heard me! So a package came for me yesterday from my mom. I knew it was the skirt that I bought her and she had complained it was too short. But I wasn't home when it arrived so I asked for it to be redelivered. So just after I published my previous post, the door bell rings. It's the postman with my package. So I open it wondering why it's so big. I see a box that just says dark grey. I turn it around and it says "Samsung Monte"

My mommy bought me a smartphone!!!! Woooo hoooo!!!! Now, universe (and God especially), I need money for my brother's college tuition. I want a new job in entertainment and a vacation in Bali. And most of all, thank you Jesus for hearing me!!! Best.Day.EVER!

Oprah, May I Work For You? Pretty Please?!

Posted by Jay at 10:18 AM 0 comments
Oprah has to be the world's nicest employer. If there's another one, then this post dedicated to you too! Yesterday I read news that for O magazine's 10th anniversary, Oprah gave her employees $10,000 each plus an iPad. What caught my eye is the $10,000. $10 freaking THOUSAND people!! What I would give to be handed that kind of money for years of service. What would you do? Well, here's what I would do:

  1. Pay my brother's fall term tuition.
  2. If I had anything left, I would go on vacation to Bali; my dream destination.
  3. Plus, because I really need it, a smartphone that I can use to update this blog during my work breaks.
But alas, that is not my life. In fact if I'm to be honest, the entire sum would go towards my brother's education. That's where my measly bonus has gone every year so far. But even without the bonus, and the iPad, I would just want to work for a nice boss; even if it is not Oprah. I hope the universe is listening.

Jam of The Day

Posted by Jay at 2:41 PM 0 comments

I'm in a Toni Braxton mood; being a fellow Libra and all. I'm really loving her cd, Pulse. But this video and song really stands out to me. Make My Heart makes me just wanna cheer and tell the man I love how over the moon I feel about him. Alas, there's no one like that but here's to hoping.

I just had to include another song off of Pulse. The video for Hands Tied just makes the song even more sexy. It reminds me of the EnVogue video for Giving Him Something He Can Feel. In Hands Tied, there are some bonafide hotties such as Michael Jai White, Eric Balfour (looking unexpectedly hot), actor who makes want to turn into a stalker Victor Webster, Jensen Atwood from Noah's Arc and a really hot Asian older guy whom I wish I knew. Take a look at both videos and let me know which one has the better hunks. Side note: if you haven't watched Michael Jai White's Black Dynamite, please do yourself a favor and watch it. It is a riot!

Scandal, Scandal, Read All About It - Indonesia Edition

Posted by Jay at 12:31 AM 0 comments
What an Asian gossip filled day! The cherry on top? Getting to view the Cut Tari (actress) and Ariel (lead singer of Peterpan) sex tape. Who are these? I guess you haven't been reading news sites today including CNN, CBS, Huffington Post to name a few. Indonesia has been hit by it's first ever celebrity sex scandal. How big is it? The police have been raiding schools all over Indonesia trying to stop the spread of the videos. Still don't get it? Hmm, it's like seeing a sex tape between Jennifer Anniston and John Mayer back when they were together. What makes it even bigger is that in an overwhelmingly Muslim state, they face 12 years each in jail for producing pornography. And this after watching Something Happened in Bali (read my review). This is making my trip to Bali next year more and more likely.

Did I mention there is also one of Ariel and his current girlfriend Luna Maya, a top model and actress. They've already started losing major endorsement. They have come out asking the fans not to believe everything they hear and not to judge them. Cut Tari, now married, also swears it's not her. Mmm, looking at this video though, this is not an R. Kelly grainy video where there's doubt it's him. Yes, I also watched that infamous video when it first came out. But hey, I shall not accuse you Ariel/Cut/Luna, but thank you for 8 minutes of pure entertainment. I rate it platinum XXX. I understand why some Indonesian teenager is quoted as having watched it four times.

Do you want to see it? Well, it took me 10 minutes of googling to find it. For the millions of you much more computer savvy than me, you can cut that time in half. But if you find the Luna Maya one, do your bestie (moi) a favor and forward it. I need my sleep now.

Shanghai Honey - I feel a Japanese Obsession Returning

Posted by Jay at 3:40 PM 0 comments

I'm in the mood for anything Japanese today. I'm relieving my days in Japan and reacquainting myself with the music I loved and the dramas too. This song just says "Summer" to me. Shanghai Honey was the second single released in 2003 by the Japanese alternative rock/hip-hop group Orange Range. Enjoy!

2010 VH1 Hip Honors - Some Things Don't Add Up

Posted by Jay at 2:18 PM 1 comments
I finally got around to watching HHH Dirty South edition. Man, Uncle Luke had me busting a move like it was 1995. "Cap d coming, Cap d coming, Cap d coming....doodoo brown!" I had forgotten Trick Daddy was in Scarred. Now that is hip hop!!

The other stand out of the night was Timbaland's tribute. Timbo has some serious classics under his belt. Every song I heard was a banger then and now. What would have put the icing on the cake is Jay Z spitting one verse of Big pimpin with Bun B. But it's alright, it's okay, we have Missy Elliot. I for one am eagerly awaiting her new cd.

Few thoughts that ran through my mind:
  • As much as I love Timbo, since when is Virginia part of the Dirty South?
  • Man, Mystikal is hype!
  • Why wasn't I in college in the early 90's so I could attend freaknik?
  • Asher Roth needs to hire a stylist. Not a good look Mr. Roth!
  • Why were Cash Money Millionaires not included?
  • Where was the rest of Goodie Mob during the Organized Noize tribute and Outkast?
  • Aren't there Southern female rappers who could have been honored e.g. Gangsta Boo?

This song is for anyone who has a dream for themselves and is trying to realize it. It doesn't matter what year it is, this song still inspires me now as it did back in 1994. U Will Know by Black Men United (B.M.U) was written by D'Angelo and Brian McKnight and was featured on the Jason's Lyric soundtrack. BMU comprised of great male acts such as Usher, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Gerald Levert, El Debarge, Tevin Campbell, Aaron Hall, Damion Hall, Boys II Men, H-Town, After 7, Al B Sure, Christopher Williams, Keith Sweat, Intro, Silk, Portrait, R. Kelly, Stokely of Mint Condition, Portrait and I'm sure there are others I've missed so please forgive me. And remember:

You're dreams ain't easy
Just stick by your plans
To go from boys to men
You must act like a man
When it get's hard y'all
Just grab what you know
Stand up tall and don't you fall
You will knoooooow

I'm Mental!

Posted by Jay at 12:21 PM 0 comments
Lost is over, Flash Forward is over, New Adventures of Old Christine is over. I now will have to get a life and leave the house! What will be my new addiction? I'm running out of Japanese and Korean dramas to watch. I may now have to join mom and watch Filipino dramas and Telenovelas. What suggestions do you have? I know summer has not officially started but I'm already worried about my fall tv schedule. This year I have so many openings that I fear I may have to start watching Dancing With The Stars and, God forbid, Survivor and American Idol out of boredom. Oh the horror!
